The first half of the play mainly centres around Felix and his struggle to come to terms with his father’s death whereas the second half looks at its impact on the other people in Felix’s life.

With apologies to Will S and Charlotte Jones (and indeed to you all)

To b-b-bee or not to bee – poor Felix Humble! Beset by quandries old and questions new: the strings and arrows of outrageous theory – and "what’s a boy who’s lost his dad to do"? For Flora Humble life is hardly simpler: The heart-ache and the shocks and all of that That flesh is heir to … make you greyer, not thinner, Nor help you cope with sons grown strange and fat. The gardener seems as rooted as his roses But he’s been on a voyage, has gentle Jim: The undiscover'd country, from whose border No traveller’s returned – apart from him. And Rosie, dumped and soon to be a mother, Put arms around a sea of troubling men – to sleep no more with Humble! – a consolation Devoutly to be wish’d for once again. Nor must we overlook poor little Mercy, who bears the whips and scorns of her best friend: Though put upon, she’ll soon spice up the party; her grace won’t be forgotten in the end. And even bluff George Pye faced a conundrum (though maybe one not central to the plot) – his urgent, pressing question in the garden: to pee or not to pee on Humble’s pot. by Malcolm Todd
